Books, Books and more books....

Part of my News Year Resolution was to read more. This month I was able to read two Nicholas Sparks books and one by Richard Matheson. I have to be honest, this is the first time I have ever read a Nicholas Sparks book and I have to say I'm not sure if I am a fan. Has anyone else read his books? I would really like to hear your take on his books. I found them to be quite honestly depressing. Are they all like this or did I just happen to read the two most depressing books? Honestly I am not a romance book kind of girl, but I will admit that one of my all time favorite love stories is "The Time Travelers Wife" by Audrey Niffenegger as well as Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen so I am not completely against love stories.
........................................................................
The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks
Seventeen year-old Veronica “Ronnie” Miller’s life was turned upside-down when her parents divorced and her father moved from New York City to Wilmington, North Carolina. Three years later, she remains angry and alienated from her parents, especially her father… until her mother decides it would be in everyone’s best interest if she spent the summer in Wilmington with him. Ronnie’s father, a former concert pianist and teacher, is living a quiet life in the beach town, immersed in creating a work of art that will become the centerpiece of a local church. The tale that unfolds is an unforgettable story about love in its myriad forms – first love, the love between parents and children.
.................................................................
Dear John by Nicholas Sparks
An angry rebel, John dropped out of school and enlisted in the Army, not knowing what else to do with his life--until he meets the girl of his dreams, Savannah. Their mutual attraction quickly grows into the kind of love that leaves Savannah waiting for John to finish his tour of duty, and John wanting to settle down with the woman who has captured his heart. But 9/11 changes everything. John feels it is his duty to re-enlist. And sadly, the long separation finds Savannah falling in love with someone else. "Dear John," the letter read...and with those two words, a heart was broken and two lives were changed forever.
..................................................................
The Box by Richard Matheson
What if every time you pushed a button you received $50,000...but someone you didn’t know died? Would you still push the button? How many times?"Button, Button", which inspired a memorable Twilight Zone episode, is just one of a dozen unforgettable tales in this new collection by Richard Matheson, the New York Times bestselling author of I Am Legend and What Dreams May Come. This volume contains a series of stories that were adapted for television, as well as a new introduction by Matheson himself.

When I picked these books I was looking for something I would normally never pick to read and let me tell you I got it. If anyone has read any of these books I would love to hear your take on them.

Challenge #13: What is your favorite fragrance?

My favorite fragrance is an oldie but a goodie. I love Ralph Lauren 'Style' perfume and because I love this perfume so much, the people at Ralph decided that it no longer needed to be sold in a store near you. I have to special order this little bad boy from a special fragrance store and I can only order a 1.3 Fl. Oz a.k.a. 40 ml (which in turn usually costs me an arm and possibly a leg) and as many of you may know this is a tiny, tiny, tiny bottle. Did I mention it is a tiny bottle? TINY! Anyway, as I was saying, I LOVE the fragrance of this perfume. Love it! Hands down this is my favorite fragrance.

Sketchy Thursdays 1.14

I noticed on Green Horned Unicorn, my friend Toni was participating in a on line challenge from Sketchy Thursdays Blog. I recently bought some items off of the Green Horned Unicorn Esty store and have been wanting to use them badly.. All I can say is when I spotted this layout I knew this sketch was perfect for my recent purchases.

Here is my take on the layout:

The beautiful felt blossom and some of the ribbons are from Green Horned Unicorn Esty shop. If you haven't already checked out this shop and purchased these stinkin cute felt blossoms and ribbon, what are you waiting for?

Challenge #12 What is your favorite Layout from 2009?

My favorite layout for 2009 happens to be a layout of my dad and step mom's trip to Italy. For my dad's 50th birthday I made him a scrapbook covering photos from his childhood to now. (72 pages in all) Wow! I know, last night was the first time I actually counted to see how many sheets I scrapped. No wonder it took me a year and half to finish it..

Challenge #11:What Is Your Favorite Car?

Better late than never!
................................
Christmas in Illinois, to lay-offs at work and
then a nasty cold,
it was no wonder I missed Challenge #11.
Anyway, like I was saying better late then never.
......................................
My favorite car is not a car at all,
but a Big Red Truck.
It has been years and years since I have seen it,
but I have fond memories of the Big Red Truck.

Boise State beats TCU!!

Parking: $30
......
Refreshments & Souvenirs: $90
.....
Watching Boise State defeat TCU at the
Tostito's Fiesta Bowl:
.....
Priceless
With a 17-10 score, undefeated Boise State beat the TCU Horned Frogs last night during the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl Champions! And I was there to witness it first hand! Even for non-football fans, it was an exciting game, with well matched teams and some artfully executed plays -including a fake punt that clinched the win.
.....
Goooo Broncos!
